Tom Phillips is an experienced Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with special interests in sports injuries, lower limb (hip/groin, knee, ankle and foot) and shoulder injuries. As part of his role at Bodybalance, he is the TASS Lead Physiotherapist for the University of Hertfordshire TASS delivery site.
Tom’s interest in the treatment of sports injuries began in adolescence with his own injuries from tennis, rugby and hockey. After graduating from both his Sport & Exercise Sciences (2015) and Physiotherapy (2018) degrees, Tom worked within the NHS and in semi-professional and academy level rugby. Since joining Bodybalance in 2021, he has completed a Masters degrees in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health at UCL gaining a distinction, worked with Saracens Mavericks Netball Super League team, and continues to work with a wide variety of elite sports including netball, American Football, Basketball, Womens football, futsal, para dressage and skiing.
The knowledge from Tom’s multiple degrees and strength and conditioning interests have led to his active approach to the rehabilitation and management of injuries. Tom particularly enjoys working with active clients whose goals are to return sport or a high level of function. In addition to creating individual rehabilitation programmes, he utilises his skills in manual therapy, soft tissue massage, taping and acupuncture when appropriate to optimise clients’ outcomes.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys playing tennis, going to the gym, watching sport and socialising with friends.
