We sometimes see people before their operation for pre-operative assessments. In these appointments we can help with advice on what to expect following your surgery as well as answer any questions you may have about your rehabilitation. Often physiotherapy is important pre-operatively for helping to optimise fitness and readiness for surgery as well as helping to improve the post-surgical outcomes.
After surgery, physiotherapy typically consists of a comprehensive assessment of your strength and flexibility as well as a discussion with you about what your targets are. Rehabilitation will be individualised to suit your personal abilities, needs and goals. We offer advice and treatment on post-operative swelling, pain control and returning your operated joint back to full movement and strength as well as re-educating your gait (walking). A comprehensive exercise programme will be tailored specifically to you & your stage of rehabilitation.
