Postnatal physiotherapy · Golders Green
Understand your recovery after birth, talk through your concerns and take the next step with confidence.
SERVICES
A Mummy MOT® is a postnatal assessment with a trained, licensed practitioner. It looks at how your body is recovering after pregnancy and birth, with attention to your pelvic floor, tummy muscles and movement.
At BodyBalance Physiotherapy in Golders Green, the aim is to help you understand your recovery and what support may suit you. You might want reassurance, advice about returning to exercise, or time to talk about something that does not feel right.
Our short appointment guide helps you explore your options before speaking to the team about the right appointment for you.

What to expect
Your appointment starts with you: how you feel, what you have noticed and what you would like help with.
01
Share your birth history, symptoms and goals, whether that is feeling more comfortable day to day or building back towards exercise.
02
The assessment can consider posture, abdominal separation and pelvic floor function. Your practitioner will explain each part and ask for your consent.
03
Talk through the findings and a tailored recovery plan. If you need a different type of support, your practitioner can explain the options.

Space for your questions
Tell us what you would like help with, in your own words. Common reasons to ask about postnatal physiotherapy include:
Some concerns may be better suited to a broader pelvic health assessment. We will help you understand the difference before you book.
Your next step
A few short questions can help you decide what to ask our team about. You do not need to choose a clinician or know the name of a condition.
This guide helps with booking; it does not diagnose symptoms or replace medical advice.

Your questions, answered
An initial assessment is usually considered from around six to eight weeks after birth. The right timing depends on your recovery. If you are earlier in your recovery or have symptoms that concern you, speak to your maternity team or GP rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
Yes. Postnatal concerns do not always end in the first few months. Tell us how long it has been and what you would like help with so the team can suggest an appropriate appointment.
Mummy MOT is a specific branded postnatal assessment provided by a licensed practitioner. Pelvic health physiotherapy covers a wider range of concerns. At BodyBalance, the appointment guide helps the team decide which service and practitioner to discuss with you.
A pelvic floor examination may be discussed as part of the assessment. Your practitioner will explain what it involves and ask for your consent. You can decline or ask to stop, and discuss alternative assessment options.
No. A Mummy MOT complements your routine postnatal medical care. Keep your GP and maternity appointments, and seek medical advice for new or worrying symptoms.
You can ask about postnatal assessment after a caesarean as well as a vaginal birth. Let the team know about your recovery and any concerns so they can advise on timing and the right appointment.
Please contact BodyBalance to confirm the current Mummy MOT fee and appointment length before booking. The price of a wider pelvic health appointment may differ.
Please ask the team when arranging your appointment so they can confirm the arrangements at your chosen clinic.
