At Bodybalance Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, our purpose is to help people live active, healthy lives. Here’s what you can expect during your initial appointment and an overview of your patient journey with us.
When you arrive at our clinic, you’ll be greeted by our friendly reception staff. They will assist you with any necessary paperwork and ensure that all your details are up to date. We ask that you please complete any clinic registration forms online before your first appointment. These forms are essential as they involve consent to store your personal information and other important details. If you haven’t filled out this information in advance, we will ask you to complete it before your appointment can commence, which may reduce your appointment time.
Your first session will begin with an initial consultation with one of our experienced physiotherapists. This is an important step where we take the time to understand your medical history, current condition, and any specific concerns or goals you may have. We encourage you to bring any relevant information, such as referral letters and copies of scans, to help us tailor your treatment plan effectively.
Following the consultation, your physiotherapist will conduct a comprehensive assessment. This may include:
After the assessment, your physiotherapist will work with you to reach a diagnosis and develop a personalised treatment plan. They will explain the underlying causes of your symptoms and outline a plan that may include a combination of manual therapy, exercise therapy, and other modalities tailored to your specific needs. The treatment plan will usually commence in the first session.
In many cases, your first session will also include an initial treatment. This could involve hands-on techniques such as massage or joint mobilisation, as well as guided exercises to start addressing your condition. Your physiotherapist will ensure you are comfortable and understand each step of the treatment process.
You should wear loose, comfortable clothes that allow easy access and visibility of the area to be treated. Shorts can usually be worn for knee and ankle injuries, and females may prefer to wear an appropriate bra or vest top if the neck or shoulder are being treated. Sometimes it is necessary to remove items of clothing to allow for better access to the area being treated – this will be explained to you at the time. You are entitled to have an attendant present with you if you prefer.
